Classical. Christian. Liberating Arts. for Faithful Christian Living and Leadership

Graduate Studies
Theology and education are the high ground in today's culture wars. Whoever holds those two strategic areas controls the shape and direction of culture in both the City of God and the City of Man. Theology and education have always been battlegrounds, but the stakes have never been higher.

To equip the next generation of theologians and theologically informed leaders in other fields, New Saint Andrews offers a Master of Arts degree in Trinitarian Theology and Culture. To advance and sustain the educational reforms of home schooling and classical Christian education gained over the past 25 years, the College has two Classical Christian Studies graduate programs designed for working educators, home schooling parents, and aspiring Christian scholars.

Truth, Goodness and Beauty
As with our undergraduate program, the College structured its graduate studies program firmly on the foundation of the classical liberal arts. This classical Christian paradigm for higher learning emphasizes wisdom and truth more than pragmatism, integration and beauty more than specialization, and character and goodness more than power. As a result, the College’s integrative approach to classical Christian higher education stresses the interrelationships between disciplines and their unity and diversity rooted in Christ and the Holy Trinity. From the graduate program’s introductory Master’s Foundation courses to the last graduate seminar, New Saint Andrew’s graduate students are taught to understand and appreciate how diverse disciplines and subjects are interrelated and integrated in Christ himself and within the Trinitarian worldview.

Classical Christian Studies
The New Saint Andrews Classical Christian Studies program is offered as both a two-year Masters of Studies degree and a one-year graduate certificate. The program’s limited enrollment, low-residency option allows working educators, home schooling parents, and aspiring scholars to broaden their understanding of the classical Christian education paradigm from a distinctively Trinitarian perspective. Its modular design allows working students flexibility in course selection and scheduling.

Trinitarian Theology and Culture
Students pursuing New Saint Andrews’s two-year Masters of Arts degree in Trinitarian Theology and Culture devote themselves to full-time study in Moscow. Unlike most modern seminaries, the degree program does not confine theology to the boundaries of full-time ministerial work. The New Saint Andrews program includes courses on aesthetics, politics, poetry, and philosophy of science. The theological and biblical courses are taught with an eye to their implications for culture.

Trinitarian Theology and Culture, M.A.

A Trinitarian Vision for Incarnational Living
As you'd expect from New Saint Andrews, this is not your typical graduate theology degree. The College's Master of Arts in Trinitarian Theology & Culture is designed to bring Scripture and biblical theology alive from a radically Trinitarian perspective and to show (not just tell) students how the foundational perspective of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit transforms everyday life and culture. This program is designed for those who want the Trinitarian vision to reshape every fiber of their being and to remake every institution and culture into the cruciform image of our sovereign God. This graduate degree program is a regimen of rigorous academic study. But more importantly, it is a regimen of intellectual and spiritual discipline led by faithful scholars and godly men for making the glorious image of our sovereign Lord incarnate in each student's personal life, the community, and the public sphere.

A Two-Year, Non-Thesis Program
The M.A. in Trinitarian Theology & Culture is a limited enrollment, academically rigorous, two-year, non-thesis course of post-graduate studies. Students receive the close, personal attention of the graduate faculty, who serve as their teachers, mentors, role models, and friends from the first day of class, to graduation, and beyond. The program requires 44 credit hours of course work in Biblical Studies, Theology, and Cultural Seminars, plus seven integrative essays, eight clusters of directed readings, proficiency in the biblical languages, and a final oral examination.

Limited Enrollment
Enrollment in the program is limited. Full-time applicants are given priority, but a limited number of exceptionally qualified part-time applicants may be admitted as space allows.

General M.A. Requirements (44 credits)
4 cr (4-1cr courses) Master's Foundation courses
16 cr (8-2cr courses) Pesher Group (biblical & systematic theology)
16 cr (8-2cr courses) Cultural Seminars
4 cr (4-1 cr courses) Directed Readings
4 cr (4-1 cr courses) Research Papers

Pass Final Oral Exam
Attend the Graduate Forum
Participate in co-curricular activities

Faculty Mentors
Each graduate student is assigned a "Faculty Mentor" who will be responsible for the general advising and oversight of the student’s progress and personal development while enrolled in the program. The faculty mentor will oversee and evaluate the student’s directed readings program.

Research Papers
Every two terms, M.A. students are required to submit a 25-35-page research paper. The four papers required for the degree must include one each on issues in biblical studies, systematic theology and culture. The fourth paper may be in any of those three areas. The papers will normally be read by more than one graduate faculty member. Part-time matriculating students must write their required research papers at least once every academic year.

Worship & Service
While the program is not a pastoral training program, it recognizes the inherently pastoral character of theology, incorporating this emphasis with its worship and service requirements. And because theology is not an impersonal academic discipline, the College encourages its students and faculty to nurture the Christian virtues through close interactions and accountability.
